I hope you all enjoy seeing the wonderful things your student is doing in GT LEAD!
First grade explored games and their attributes, used the design process to create a game of their own. and played each others games.
Now first grade is digging into a Worms life!
Students are explored the functions and importance of the six main parts of the brain. They analyzed the roles of the brain and neurons as they role played and drew the paths messages are sent and received in the Nervous System. Students crested a final product and will present their research at The Brain Expo. More information below.
Soon, second graders will go back into time and start the unit "It's Extinct!"
Third Grade studied businesses and discovered attributes that make them successful. They investigated the process of inventing new toys and games and they utilized the design process to develop a prototype of a toy/game. They even got to use the 3D printer!
Now let's explore careers in the exciting unit "Career Explorations."
Students can identify an enigma and how it manifests itself. In groups they investigated theories about the cause of the enigma of their choice. They hypothesized the cause of the enigma.
We are now rolling into the unit "Rube Goldberg."
5th Grade GT LEADers finished their unit, Independent Research! Students selected a topic and create a driving question using The Differentiator.
They have selected a variety of quality sources, took detailed notes that answer their driving question and created a bibliography. They are created sophisticated products that demonstrated their learning and presented to the class.
How we will end this year with the amazing unit "Exploring Games and Sports!"
Your feedback is important to myself and the GCISD Advanced Academics Program. Please take a moment to complete the survey.
The GT Challenge will continue! I will continue to send home weekly math puzzles! If students complete the puzzles correctly they can get something out of my prize box! With that being said, I teach 6 grade levels and will need to replenish my prize box often! If you would like to donate anything to my prize box, my students and I would greatly appreciate it! I have added some ideas to my wishlist, however you can also choose items your student(s) would work towards!

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences. Please consider joining this dynamic group by clicking on the link below.
