First Grade
First Grade
First grade has been conducting Authentic Research. Students learned new vocabulary including hypothesis, descriptive research, sample, data, and impact. They learned about systematic sampling and its importance. As a class brainstormed questions and evaluated ideas using a rubric. As they learned about research and the impact it can have on a school or community we decided to contribute to Coach B and her gym. Student's counted the amount of ripped tape and created a plan to replace it and communicate to students not to pick it!
Second Grade
Second Grade
Second grade is rocking the Simple Machines unit. Students are researching types of simple machines. They will analyze cause and effect relationships. Students will finally design a system of simple machines.
Third Grade
Third Grade
Third grade is off to a wonderful start with 3D Discoveries! In this unit students will got to demonstrate their strengths in building. Students are now creating an alliteration piece about their creation.
. Lastly, students will use presentation skills to share their thoughts.
Fourth Grade
Fourth Grade
Detective school was AMAZING! Having real Grapevine detectives present to the students was an unforgettable experience for them. Students are now exploring oxymoron's and their meaning. They will reflect on a past mistake and what lesson it taught them.Students will write a detailed paragraph about a meaningful mistake they have made, create an acrostic poem to reflect their mistake and create a frame to hold their poem. Lastly, they will present their final product to their peers.
Fifth Grade

Geometric Wonders is WONDERful! Students have identified that tessellations show the arrangement of shapes that fit together in a repeated pattern, without gaps or overlapping. They will created 3 different types of tessellations, transitional, reflection and rotation. They learned that finding the sum of two preceding numbers in a series creates the Fibonacci Sequence and that this ratio is evident in nature and mathematics. They created their own masterpiece using the Fibonacci Sequence. Students will observe that fractals are never ending patterns that exist in nature, mathematics, science and art.
GT Challenge
GT Challenge
The GT Challenge will continue! I will continue to send home weekly math puzzles! If students complete the puzzles correctly they can get something out of my prize box! With that being said, I teach 6 grade levels and will need to replenish my prize box often! If you would like to donate anything to my prize box, my students and I would greatly appreciate it! I have added some ideas to my wishlist, however you can also choose items your student(s) would work towards!

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences.
