It has been a LAST meeting with my former students and getting to know my new students. Below are some of the fun activities we did the first week of GT LEAD!
It was great to see everyone at GT LEAD Orientation. If you are unable to attend, you can look over the slideshow, make an appointment to visit with me or call/email with any questions.
In GT we are always doing creative, out of the box things! With that comes awesome photo opportunities and unusual tools. All tools will have explicit directions on proper use. Please be sure you have completed the form granting permissions for the use of photos and tools in the GT LEAD classroom.
I am in search of a volunteer to be our Campus SAGE Representative.
The mission of Grapevine-Colleyville Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education (GC-SAGE) is to ensure gifted children in the Grapevine/Colleyville area reach their fullest potential by: advocating on their behalf; connecting parents to valuable resources and each other; and by educating and supporting their teachers and educators.
Job description for campus reps:
- campus reps will inform SAGE about topics/issues parents may be interested in learning more about
- campus reps will support and encourage the GT LEAD teacher
- campus reps will help promote social events and parent programming provided by SAGE
How often will campus reps meet?
- most communication will come through email
- 1-2 Zoom calls in the evening each semester
There will be a Zoom call Tuesday, September 12 at 7pm for the Elementary GT LEAD campus reps. A meeting link to the campus reps closer to the date.
If you are interested, please contact me or the SAGE President, Jamie Weatherall at president@gc-sage.org.
The GT Challenge is back! I am continuing the GT challenge for ALL my classes! I will continue to send home weekly math puzzles! If students complete the puzzles correctly they can get something out of my prize box! With that being said, I teach 6 grade levels and will need to replenish my prize box often! If you would like to donate anything to my prize box, my students and I would greatly appreciate it! I have added some ideas to my wishlist, however you can also choose items your student(s) would work towards!
For those who are new to the GT LEAD Program, Here is how it will work:
They will receive a packet the first day of each week that they see me.
Students will work through the puzzles on their own time. This can be at home, recess, free time in class, etc.
Packets are dow back on or before the first day they see me the following week.
Students can stop by anytime. If I am unavailable, they can slide it under my door. Be sure they have their name on it!
Once they have completed all the puzzles correctly, they receive a prize out of my treasure chest.
This will continue weekly throughout the school year.

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences. Please consider joining this dynamic group by clicking on the link below.
