Testing is completed and I am back to full schedule with my wonderful GT LEADers! I hope you all enjoy seeing the wonderful things your student is doing in GT LEAD!
First grade has been exploring games and their attributes. Students will use the design process to create a game of their own. Once students have created their games, students will get to play eachothers days!
Students are exploring the functions and importance of the six main parts of the brain. They will analyze the roles of the brain and neurons as they role play and draw the paths messages are sent and received in the Nervous System. Students will create a final product and present their research at The Brain Expo. More information to come!
Third Grade is studying businesses and discovering attributes that make them successful. They will investigate the process of inventing new toys and games. They will utilize the design process to develop a prototype of a toy/game, test the prototype, and make revisions based on findings
Students can identify an enigma and how it manifests itself. In groups they are investigating theories about the cause of the enigma of their choice. They will hypothesize the cause of the enigma. Students will communicate their learning in a sophisticated presentation.
Pictured is the Valentine's Day Fraction Logic Puzzles. Definitely a fun challenge for the kiddos!
We are preparing our 5th Grade GT LEADers for Middle School with this next unit, Independent Research!Students selected a topic and create a driving question using The Differentiator.
They have selected a variety of quality sources, took detailed notes that answer their driving question and created a bibliography. They are creating a sophisticated product that demonstrates their learning. Students will present their learning to an authentic audience.
The GT Challenge will continue! I will continue to send home weekly math puzzles! If students complete the puzzles correctly they can get something out of my prize box! With that being said, I teach 6 grade levels and will need to replenish my prize box often! If you would like to donate anything to my prize box, my students and I would greatly appreciate it! I have added some ideas to my wishlist, however you can also choose items your student(s) would work towards!
I hope students enjoyed the activities provided to enrich their learning while I was conducting testing. ASPIRE testing results will be sent home April 22 through Skyward.
Second grade is working diligently on Brain Research. At the end of our unit Silver Lake will host The Brain Expo. Where families are invited to explore what second grade GT LEADers have learned about the brain. I will send the date when I have a better idea about when students will be finished.

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences. Please consider joining this dynamic group by clicking on the link below.
