My name is Danielle Waldo. I grew up in Detroit Michigan and started my college career at Eastern Michigan University. I moved to Texas in January 2008 to attend Tarleton State University on a cheer scholarship. I graduated Magna Cum Laude in May 2011. I have had a true passion for teaching since third grade, and I still carry that passion today! I truly feel teachers teach all professions, and I can’t wait to help spark interest in your little one! I taught first grade at Harmony Science Academy for 2 years , five years teaching first grade at Davis Elementary and one year in second grade. I started as the GT Specialist at Silver Lake in 2020 and absolutely love it! ! In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family and coaching cheerleading!
I’m so happy to welcome you to my classroom! GT LEAD is very busy and filled with lots of fun and learning! I am very excited about all we have planned for your child this year, and I look forward to working with you as well!
My family still lives in Michigan. This is my sister Michelle, my niece Morgan, my mom Karen and my daughter Lillyanna.
Many of you knew me as Ms. Velez, but I got married in November and I am now offically MRS. WALDO!!!
I started coaching cheer at Cross Timbers Middle school in 2020 and I love working with these AMAZING athletes!
During the first three weeks of school, GT specialists will be testing new students to GCISD, as well as working on District GT initiatives while homeroom teachers are establishing classroom norms, getting to know their students, and administering beginning of year assessments.
GT LEAD classes will begin with a mini schedule the week of August 21 and continue with a full schulde the week of August 28.
GT LEAD Orientation will be held on Thursday, August 31. I will be giving 2 presentations during the night: 6:00-6:30 and 6:30-7:00. Feel free to attend either one at your convenience. If you are unable to attend, you are welcome to make an appointment to visit with me or call/email with any questions. I look forward to introducing myself to you and sharing a little bit about the GT LEAD program and what to expect for this year.

When parenting a gifted/talented child, it is important to factor in the social/emotional well-being, as well as to look ahead and plan down the road several years. I am here to advocate for your children, as well as to be a resource for you to other opportunities within our district. One way you can stay connected and advocate for your child is through SAGE (Supporting and Advocating for Gifted Education), our parent advocacy group for gifted learners. They often bring in guest speakers, invite representatives for camps/programs to share, and provide scholarships for teachers to attend gifted conferences. Please consider joining this dynamic group by clicking on the link below.
