Here is a checklist for doing an insurance property inspection on a daycare:
Property information: Collect information about the daycare, including the address, the size of the building, and the type of business conducted.
Access: Determine the accessibility of the daycare, including the type and condition of the entryways, walkways, and parking areas.
Building structure: Inspect the condition of the daycare building, including the roof, walls, foundation, and windows, looking for signs of damage, wear, or deterioration.
Indoor environment: Evaluate the indoor environment, looking for issues such as proper ventilation, adequate lighting, and clean, well-maintained surfaces.
Outdoor environment: Inspect the outdoor play areas, looking for hazards such as sharp objects, uneven terrain, or other risks that could pose a threat to children.
Security: Evaluate the security measures in place, such as the presence of security cameras, fencing, or other barriers to protect children from unauthorized access.
Fire safety: Check for smoke detectors and fire extinguishers throughout the facility, as well as the availability of fire hydrants and access for emergency vehicles.
Emergency preparedness: Evaluate the daycare's emergency preparedness plan, including the availability of emergency supplies, and whether staff are trained in emergency response procedures.
Liability risks: Identify any potential liability risks, such as tripping hazards or other hazards that could pose a risk to children.
Insurance coverage: Verify that the daycare has adequate insurance coverage to protect against liability and property damage, as well as coverage for any vehicles used to transport children.
Once the inspection is complete, compile a report detailing your findings and any recommendations for improvements or repairs to help mitigate risks and ensure that the daycare is adequately protected by insurance.
