Dragons Primary Squads Expectations


Time Standards


Pre-Dragons (Year 2) - Lead Coach, Coach Jimmy 

2 Sessions per week are available for this squad. 

This is a first entry into the competitive Swimming Squad. Attendance once or twice per week is expected and the swimmers will develop good technique and skills with a competitive element. Emphasis is on FUN.


Water Dragons (Year 3–4) - Lead Coach - Coach Jimmy 

5 Sessions per week are available, minimum 2 sessions per week are expected.

This squad is to prepare swimmers aged 7, 8 and 9 for competitive swimming. Swimmers are expected to have a good attendance record and demonstrate intentions to compete in competitions. 

A minimum of 2 sessions per week is required to remain in the squad. The Swimming in Values Program is applied to this swimming squad. Program will be supported by different actions. 

Objectives:

•Implement and instil core values through swimming. 

•Create an effective values based environment in sports.

•Help kids become capable of understanding the meaning of the values, identify and apply them in their sports routine and daily life. Core values set the standard for behaviour and performance.

•Build character through sport.

•Transform core values into actions.


Development (Year 5-13) - Lead Coach - Coach Jose - Coach Ignatius


6 Swimming Sessions and 1 Land Training per week are available, a minimum of 2 swimming pool sessions a week is expected. 

The Development Squad is where the swimmers continue to develop technique, skills & start aerobic conditioning in order to improve competitive performance. The Development Squad is for those swimmers who wish to commit to the performance pathway with later progression to the Performance Squad. 

The Swim-Buddy program will be in action for this squad.

Junior Performance (Year 5-6) - Lead Coach - Coach Ignatius

7 Swimming Sessions and 2 land conditioning training sessions per week are available, a minimum of 3 swimming pool sessions a week is expected. 

The Junior Development Squad is where the swimmers continue to develop technique, skills & start aerobic conditioning in order to improve competitive performance. The Junior Performance Squad is for those swimmers who wish to commit to the competitive program looking for swim meets and school competitions.

The Swim-Buddy program will be in action for this squad.
