Training Attendance and Behaviour

• If you are not able to fulfil the above training commitment, please speak to your Head coach as soon as possible. This may lead to a swimmer being given a Individual Participation Agreement.

• Individual Participation Agreements will be signed by student, parent, Aquatics director and Athletics director.

• Swimmers training in a club will have to attend at least 1 Dragons' session per week, otherwise they will lose the right to be selected to participate in Dragons Swim Meets and Tournaments.

• Absence Protocol 

• Step 1: Email parents and the swimmer when a student misses 3 sessions of swimming without justification.

• Step 2: Email parents when there is an accumulative absence of 4 sessions without justification, announcing their team/squad exclusion.

• Step 3: Swimming Lead coach / Coach Jose would be available to meet with parents after the absences, following Step 1 or Step 2

• Step 4: Students will have a term cool down period before they are allowed to rejoin the Dragons squad by trial out at the beginning of the following term.

• Failure to attend galas will be interpreted as an indication that a swimmer does not wish to participate in a competitive environment and as such the offer of a squad place may be at risk. Any swimmer who has entered an open meet and then wishes to withdraw from the meet, a session or a race may only do so after consultation with their coach.

• When attending open meets or team gala events, you are representing the School and should always wear School kit such as DRAGONS swim hats and DRAGONS Tops. In accordance with the School Codes of Conduct, an appropriate level of behaviour should be maintained at all times.

• Movement between squads is subject to criteria in force at the time being fulfilled and is always at the discretion of the Head Coach. 

• Swimmers training outside school, in swimming clubs, are required to have a meeting with the group lead coach, and, after the agreement, a minimum of 1 session per week is needed.

• Only results under GIS Dragons Swim Meets will be registered in School's database. No outside results representing clubs, other schools or institutions will be added to GIS database. 

• GIS Dragons Database (under Team Manager) will be the only source of information for swim meet registrations (in terms of seed time) and for Swim Meets selection criteria.
