Generation. Education. Period. (G.E.P) is a focus group with three overarching goals: raising awareness about period poverty, working to end menstrual shaming, and promoting sustainable sanitary products. The issues we address are important because countless women around the globe experience this, regardless of geographic location or even socio-economic status. We have partnered with Freedom Cups, a business in Singapore. Freedom Cups sells menstrual cups in Singapore and also donates them in Lesser Economically Developed Countries (LEDCs). For every menstrual cup bought, one is donated in an LEDC.

Equality is a focus group that aims to raise awareness about the LGBTQ+ community and discriminated minorities, by establishing a more secure environment for those who identify as part of this community. Students discuss the issues of visibility, stereotypes and prejudice within the school community in order to host educational events and execute campaigns to combat ignorance. Their mission encompasses creating a safer school environment through empowering and raising the visibility of the LGBTQ+ community; thereby, making UWCSEA a more secure and open place for all.

Our Focus Group is committed to actively educate and advocate against sexual harassment and abuse. We aim to destigmatize conversations and find sustainable solutions that prevent harassment and abuse from happening both now and in the future.
Knit-a-Square is a focus group that takes a hands-on approach to improving the well-being of children affected by HIV and AIDS in South Africa. We are a part of a larger, global initiative that sends hand-knitted, or crochet squares to the charity, Knit A Square (KAS). They have sewn, and distributed over 90,000 blankets since 2008. We also strive to educate, and involve the UWCSEA community in our mission to reduce the impact of HIV and AIDS, through our annual Knit-a-Thon.
Our long-term focus is centred around addressing SDG 3: Good health and well-being and SDG 10: Reduced inequalities. No matter what your skill level of knitting is, you can expect a committed team of focus group members to provide you with the necessary guidance. Together, we can maximise the number of squares we have to offer.
