MISSION
The UWC movement makes education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.
UWCSEA defines sustainable development as:
Well-being for all within the means of nature
In High School, students take more leadership of the stages of service learning with teachers facilitating in a supportive role.
Students are given access and training in a range of tools that help them to understand and analyse a complex social or environmental issue and collaborate to find sustainable solutions. Students are asked to use these tools to plan sustainable, integrated action in response to the needs of our partner organisations.
Our commitment to service and sustainable development is at the heart of the UWC mission. As students develop their awareness and systems thinking, they learn to take meaningful action for positive change in the College, the Singapore community, and internationally with one of our overseas partners.
All students engage in age-appropriate, service learning linked directly to our curriculum standards:
Awareness: by developing awareness, skills and qualities, individuals can become determined global citizens global citizens
Sustainable Development - Systems Thinking: Individuals and groups can plan to engage effectively in the sustainable development of local and global communities
Taking Action - Being a Changemaker: by taking informed, purposeful action, individuals and groups can act as changemakers, contributing to the sustainable development of local and global communities.
