Check HS GC/FG Event Calendar for available dates (at least 6 weeks in advance). Please take note of other events happening around the school on your selected days.
We generally advise against hosting your events during Tuesday & Thursday lunchtimes, as your fellow High Schoolers will be having their own GC / FG sessions during that time and will not be free to support your event.
Leave a comment on your selected date in the calendar, and email Ms. Zarinah Marican and Mr. Rick Hannah with your:
Proposed event name
Date, time, and venue
Summary of what your event is about
<GC only> Please ensure that your event complies with guidelines around keeping fundraisers private
If event date is possible, we will send you a Google Drive folder with documents (Event Planning Document and the <GC only> Budget Form) that need to be filled out for approval. These documents are to be completed together by the students and teacher facilitators.
<GC only> Once documentation is completed and verified by the SSD Team, teacher facilitators must submit the Permission to Fundraise form for final approval.
This form is important because it ensures that we are following Singapore's Charity Commission guidelines, who give us permission to fundraise and donate money to your GC outside of Singapore.
Only after your Permission to Fundraise has been approved, you can begin marketing your event. For more information and tips about marketing your event, head to our Marketing page.
Restricted Fundraising Goal:
Goals are decided by our NGO partners, and any funds raised for the period of 12 months from Jan to Dec must be used by the NGO towards that stated goal. In all GC fundraising advertisements the Restricted Fundraising Goal must be stated.
Permission to Fundraise Form:
Before planning any GC fundraising event, a permission to fundraise form must be submitted by the teacher facilitator, with support from the student chair. The form will first go through the SSD Department for approval, before proceeding to the Head of College for their approval.
Disbursement Process / Schedule:
Funds raised throughout the school year will be sent to NGO partners in May - June of each year and used according to restricted fundraising goals. The GC Officer (Ms Zarinah Marican) will take the lead on this, and include teacher facilitators on all communications to the NGO partner.
Keeping fundraising private:
Following the guidelines shared by the Singapore Charities Commission, all GC fundraising events must be kept private within the UWCSEA community. These outlines allow us as a college to send the donations to our NGO partners, and failure to comply to them will mean that we can no longer send the money overseas.
Advertising:
All posters and other materials must be approved by our Communications Officer <Mr. Danial> and the SSD Team before being shared with the UWCSEA community. Posters must include your (a) GC logo, (b) NGO logo, (c) Sustainable Development Goal addressed and (d) Restricted Fundraising Goal.
For more information, head on over to the Comms / Marketing page.
Annual Reports & Service Trips:
The UWCSEA community visit NGOs during Service Trips and G11 Project Week to build relationships, strengthen partnerships and measure impact. The trips and the impact is then shared with the UWCSEA community.
