This guide can be used to identify the iPad model without having to look it up in Destiny. The model numbers are etched in small font at the rear, bottom of the iPad

Roll-In Overview for Elementary iPads
The information below is to help guide you through the roll-in process. All iPads are being collected.
Current K-4th grade iPads will be collected and possibly handed back to the same student IF it is a 9th gen model. 6, 7 & 8th gen models may be removed from your school over summer to be replaced by 9th gens. 5th grade MUST erase the iPad using the Jamf Reset app.
In class or the library, students can follow this slideshow to prepare their iPads for roll-in.
If there are restrictions set up that need to be removed before the iPad can be reset ask your Client Services tech.
Choose to push into classrooms our have the students come to the library for check in.
For students keeping their iPad, have them clean the screen of the device with iKlear and a microfiber towel.
Verify you see the Hello Screen, or, if not resetting, power off the iPad.
Scan the iPad into Destiny.
iPads returning to the same student can be stored by the current teachers name, next year's teacher, students last name, etc. in a box, shelf, book cart, etc.
If the case on the iPad is in good shape, keep it on the iPad. If a case needs replaced go ahead and toss it.
Keep a count of cases that may need replaced and send to roy.fuller@bend.k12.or.us
Please attempt to keep 6, 7 & 8th gen models in separate stacks/boxes to make it easy for IT to determine what you have.

Roll-outs done one class (starting with 5th, working down) or grade level/department (secondary) at a time during the first week of school makes things run smoother
Your Fellow Tier 1s say: You should expect Roll-Out Preparation to take 2-4 days with help. Let your Administrator know this and find out if you're expected to come in during the summer to do this, or if they'll be making sure to provide the help upon your return
If you are diligent updating to the latest iPadOS version during roll-in, your roll-out will be much smoother. Also making sure the iPads come in at least 50% charged will help speed up roll-out as well
Library carts are a great way to store iPads over the summer by grade, class, name, etc. if available at school but boxes may be best. Check in with your Nutrition staff to see if they have boxes available. Many iPads will be shuffled around during summer.
