All 8th grade iPads will need to be collected at the end of the school year. These iPads will be used for incoming 6th graders or moved to other schools. 8th grade iPads ideally need to be charged, updated and reset before being turned in. We know getting that process done isn't going to be 100%, but the higher percentage that can be done will make it easier in the Fall of 2025 when they are checked out again.
In class or library have the students follow these directions for making sure their iPads are updated, signed into their district Managed Apple ID's for a backup and for downloading JAMF Reset to go through the reset process
When it's time to check-in the iPad have the students come down to the library
Have a cleaning station that the students will clean their iPad. Supplies will be provided by IT
Having this station monitored by an adult would be helpful so the students aren't soaking their iPad while cleaning
Inspect iPad
Inspection form (if desired)
Inspect brick & cord (details)
Fine the student for any damage (the best way for assessing fines is setting the fined iPads aside until after roll-in)
Fine for any missing brick/cord no matter the model of iPad
Video showing how to run a report for iPads not turned in during or after roll-in
Check the iPad into Destiny
The iPads can be stored in boxes, book carts, shelf by grade level sorted by student name, etc. Reach out to fellow Tier 1's for their idea's as well.
Cases should be removed from the 8th grade iPads (any decent 9th gen cases keep on). Keep a count of the number of replacement cases needed.
Order replacement bricks & cords via a Help Desk purchasing ticket. This order must be placed before you leave for break by you or your Office Manager
Send roy.fuller@bend.k12.or.us a total of replacement cases needed

PCM, LPM, TRS and WSV: Order replacement bricks & cords via a Help Desk purchasing ticket. This order must be placed before you leave for break
Don't forget about Insurance, the window for insurance is opened up towards the end of August through October. (This applies to secondary grade levels only) WE HAVE NO INSURANCE DETAILS YET FOR NEXT YEAR
Your Fellow Tier 1s say: You should expect Roll-Out Preparation to take 2-4 days with help. Let your Administrator know this and find out if you're expected to come in during the summer to do this, or if they'll be making sure to provide the help upon your return
If you are diligent updating to the latest iPadOS version during roll-in, your roll-out will be much smoother. Also making sure the iPads come in at least 50% charged will help speed up roll-out as well
Library carts are a great way to store iPads over the summer by grade, class, name, etc. if available at school but boxes may be best. Check in with your Nutrition staff to see if they have boxes available. Many iPads will be shuffled around during summer.
Our best advice for a smooth roll-in:
Avoid Mondays (you'll enter tons of fines for bricks and cords and then delete them the very next day when student's remember to bring them in)
Seniors have a short window to get fines paid in order to graduate. It takes overnight for the fines in Destiny to show up in TouchBase for families to pay. Be sure to communicate this!
Give your office staff instructions for collecting iPads that are early or late from students (steps to reset iPad using Jamf Reset, collecting & fining for bricks & cords, etc.)
