According to today’s speaker, learning more than one language is essential. I totally agree with his opinion because I think languages are the important parts of interacting with people whose cultural backgrounds are different from mine. By learning lot of languages, I can communicate with as many foreigners as I can, and I can learn their culture or thoughts more easily. As a result, learning more than one language enable me to broaden my horizons and expand my experiences. According to the speaker, learning a language give us more alternatives in thinking, in understanding, in framing and shaping our own world view, also, it enables us to move into another world of experiences and therefore allows us more opportunities.

The lecturer studied in England because English language is the only acknowledged language of English and more likely to receive well paid salary in Hong Kong before 1997.He when to London and study in London University then study in Cambridge University.He learned some Mandarin because he thought that as a Chinese, he must know a certain extent of Chinese so that he could communicate with his Chinese group members, and he liked to maintain his Chinese identity and that was essential for him.And in 1995 he became tutor in University in Hong Kong and started working with his observations and study.
