Maybe COVID has put a damper on some of your plans during the school year, or kept you from your friends, but it certainly cannot prevent you from enjoying fun winter activities in Rochester. Here’s a list of the very best Rochester locations to visit over break, completely pandemic safe!
Some areas, like Durand Eastman or Bristol Mountain, are currently offering skiing! As for snow tubing, Glacier Ridge is the place to be. Their lift takes you back up to the top of the hill, which means no more exhausting treks back up yourself!
For a relaxing time strolling along the beach, head to Hamlin Beach or Ontario Beach Park. If you’re looking to go hiking or walking with your family, then head to Highland Park, Durand Eastman Park, Corbett’s Glen or Chimney Bluffs. Tinker Nature Park/Hansen Nature Center is also a great place to observe nature, even in the snowy weather.
Bill Gray’s Regional Iceplex to satisfy even the most inexperienced skaters. Separate parts of the rink are even allocated to newbies, and there are skates available to rent!
Although Rochester Public Market can sometimes be crowded, with proper care and a mask, it should be a safe and enjoyable way to get your groceries. Fresh, locally sourced produce also comes at an incredible price here!
Seneca Park Zoo is reopened after closing for awhile, and they’re better than ever! New safety protocols have been put into place to ensure COVID safety. They are also known for their winter activities, so it’s safe to say you’ll find something fun.
The Strong National Museum of Play is still open. It may be targeted towards a young audience, but anyone can appreciate aquariums and a butterfly garden! There is always the George Eastman Museum and the Rochester Museum and Science Center as well. For anyone more artistic, the Memorial Art Gallery is also still available to the public and currently hosting an Andy Warhol exhibition, Season of Warhol, featuring some of the artist’s famous works.
