Sometimes life can be a bit dark, unsteady, or difficult. Many times we get too caught up in the fast pace of it all---often overlooking the little things that can enrich our daily lives and brighten up our days. I find myself guilty of this as well, so here’s a list of 20 little things to notice and look for during the Fall time to make life a little brighter.
The sound of rain falling against the roof.
The rich, earthy smell after it’s rained (Fun fact: It’s called petrichor).
Yellow and burnt orange leaves covering the sidewalks and piled in the corners of buildings.
The warmth of the sun on your face on a crisp day.
Laughter that makes your abs sore and leaves you breathless.
Pumpkins placed on steps and the glowing faces of jack-o-lanterns.
The autumnal scents of candles and the warm, yellow candlelight.
Apple pies with flakey, buttery crust.
Apple cider.
When your breath comes out in frosty clouds on cold mornings.
Streets lined with trees with red, orange, and yellow leaves.
Brick chimneys and brick buildings with the backdrop of the turning trees.
Drinks that warm you up from the inside.
Thick socks.
Knitted sweaters and turtlenecks.
Curling up with a good book in the evening time.
Black cats and ghost stories.
Costumes and candy.
Cozy blanket nests.
Corn Mazes and Halloween.
Make sure to keep your eyes and other senses peeled for these. I encourage you to add more or to even make your own list! These little things will make the Fall season and life just a bit brighter.
