I realize that winter is beginning to melt away and that spring is starting to approach (as much as it can for the month of March in Rochester, New York), but there are still little things left of the winter season that make life just a little bit brighter.
Snow that glistens in the winter sunlight
Yards dotted with snow angels
Delicate snowflakes in eyelashes
Folklore and fairytales (Winter for me has always sparked a renewed interest in tales of old)
The sense of magic that hangs in the air
Ice covered water
Ice skates and ice skating
Hot chocolate that warms you on cold days
Snow covered pine trees
Icicles catching in the light
The sound of snow crunching under boots
Animal tracks and prints in the snow
The slow trickle of water not yet frozen
The crackling and warmth of a fireplace
Ballets and ballerina pointe shoes
Baking cookies and decorating them (and of course eating them if you so happen to)
Wintertime traditions
Spending time with family
Snowball fights
Getting into warmth from the icy wind
I hope these make the remnants of winter a little brighter for some or more bearable for others as we wait for spring. As always I encourage you to use this list as a point of inspiration to create your own (mental or physical) and to add more.
