Letters from our Editors
Class of 2020
Class of 2020
The senior class of 2020 is special to the Newspaper Club for many reasons and none of which includes their new status as the graduating class of Covid-19! The Newspaper Club has been home to a fairly small group of writers over the years, and in the last four years, the majority (ahem, all but one), are from the class of 2020. For this reason, I wanted to highlight the graduating seniors by allowing them to share some final words with HHS students and staff.
Quick plug - if you'd like to join Newspaper Club next year - we meet Mondays in Ms. Fay's room (3311) right after school!
To all future editors,
I will try to keep my use of cliche phrases to a minimum, however, when writing something like this they tend to come out more than I'd like. I'm ashamed.
All I have to say is, keep doing what you're doing. Though my participation this year was not as much as I'd like due to a chaotic schedule and COVID-19, most of my favorite memories come from Mrs. Fay's classroom. Having fun with other newspaper members, laughing at my awful grammar, or simply spending time with some of my best friends. Newspaper has been- for lack of better words- a hoot. A large chunk of club members are leaving this year, and I hope you all take it upon yourselves to find new members and keep this club alive. Writing in a newspaper is a beautiful way to learn and appreciate self expression. I hope you all find ways to uncover the stories of this school, and find your own unique writing style in the process.
Thank you Mrs. Fay for constantly caring about us, and working hard to make sure we're all as happy as we can be. We all love and appreciate you and your welcoming classroom more than we can ever say.

Dear Future Senior Editors,
I have been a member of Newspaper Club since my Freshman year of high school. It has definitely been a wild time. When I joined Newspaper Club I didn't have the strongest writing skills, but I was able to develop them over time. My friends and I definitely knew how to have fun while writing. We’d bounce ideas off of each other, find the latest scoop, and even pair up to write articles together.
Of course Newspaper Club may just seem like a group of people who come together to write articles, but the occasional inclusion of donuts kept us on our toes. Newspaper Club is a safe place to make friends, write articles, and to just talk about your day if there’s something you need to get off your chest.
I had hoped to write my last article about Graduation and the reality of it. Times have obviously changed and I will now carry the memories of Newspaper Club and high school as a whole when I start college. These memories are what shaped me to be the person (and writer!) that I am today.
Sincerely,
Lauren Morris
Being stuck inside, I've had time to reflect on the past four years of high school. And wow, there was a lot to think about. And as a graduating senior, here are some tips to enjoy high school as much as possible because as long as it seems now, it really is quite short in the grand scheme of things.
This wasn't supposed to be this long, but thinking back I realized that as a new student at the high school this would have been beneficial advice. High school is very different from middle school and especially different from elementary school, so you can't expect to do the same things and succeed. High school was part of what made me who I am today. The friends that I made along the way and the skills that I picked up will stay ingrained in me forever. So have fun and do great things!
Seniors - thank you for your dedication and willingness to do EXTRA writing on top of your already busy senior schedules. The club will miss you, the school will miss you, I will miss you!
