Want to get involved at Hilton but don’t know where to start? Here is a list of some of the finest clubs and extracurricular activities offered to students at Hilton High School, as well as a description of each. Remember- it’s never too late to join!
Schools represent nations at Model UN Conferences and the individual students, known as delegates, sit on a UN Committee and represent the views of the nation that their school is representing. In the committee, students from schools all over the region will then propose and debate solutions to the chosen issues. The club is very dependent upon student leadership! This description was provided by Mrs. Burke.
Students are assigned a role of witness or attorney, dependent on their personal choice. A case is given to the team and students are given several weeks to prepare. You get the opportunity to work with Ms. Pignato, Attorney Andrew Kleehammer, and Judge Michael Sciortino. Eventually, the Hilton team competes against other schools with the material they have prepared. A winner is then decided by a professional judge. It’s a great club if you have any interest in the law field, and will provide you with immense experience!
This is a great club for anyone who loves to show off their knowledge in the many areas of science! Some of the competitions are simply raw testing of the content and others you need to build a device prior to the event to use in the competition. From geology to astrology to coding to sounds of music; there are so many events, there is bound to be one for you to show your expertise at! This description was provided by Mr. McGinnity.
Looking to create some new friendships? Best Buddies is a great place for that. Get the chance to sharpen your leadership skills and create new relationships by supporting inclusion for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Take part in the hundreds of fun activities the club offers like painting pumpkins, playing board games, and this year-- fun games on Zoom!
This is a great way to get some culture into your life! Watch movies, discuss current global events, and learn how different cultures express themselves!
This is an exceptional club to help the dreary upstate NY winters pass. New to the activity, or already a pro, a weekly trip is provided to hit the slopes with some skiing, snowboarding, or both! Both lessons and rentals can be provided. It’s a great way to make some fun high school memories! This description was provided by Mr. McGinnity.
Of course we saved the best for last! Love to write? Passionate about something and want your voice to be heard? Join Newspaper Club with Mrs. Fay! You are given the opportunity to work on your own time without any deadlines or due dates. Write a listicle, an opinion piece, a story, a poem -- the possibilities are endless!
