The ARDB Interpreter intenship is an immersive, growth-focused expeirenced designed for students ready to move beyond the classroom. While ARDB is a school, the internship goes far beyond tradiational educational interpreting. We offer a unique environment where medical, legal, civic, mental health, and educational interpreting all happen in once place.
Housing is offered in our on-campus apartments to all out of state interns free of charge. These apartments are college-style in that each bedroom is private and locks but there are a shared living room and kitchen. All apartments are located away from students and minors. We also allow interns to eat with our students in the cafeteria for breakfast, lunch, and dinner free of charge.
For paid opportunities we can sign the interns up to be bus chaperones on Sundays and Fridays, and they can work extra-help positions like assisting in fieldtrips. We are willing to sponsor interns who show dedication to the profession and adequate skill level to take the Quality Assurance Screening Test (QAST). Upon successful completion and receiving a level, they will be eligible to obtain their Arkansas interpreting license, in turn they're then eligible for paid interpreting assignments with us and as a contract interpreter with our partner agencies.
