Ms. Laura Dunlap is an Associate Band Director at L.V. Berkner High School. Her responsibilities include co-conducting the Symphonic Band III, assisting with marching band and other concert bands, and teaching sixth-grade beginner band classes at elementary campuses within the Berkner cluster.  Ms. Dunlap is excited to begin her teaching career with the Berkner Band, after having completed her student teaching in the Berkner Cluster. She received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University, where she graduated magna cum laude and received the Undergraduate Award for Excellence in Music. While at SMU, Ms. Dunlap studied bassoon with Theodore Soluri, Principal Bassoon of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She performed with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra and the Meadows Wind Ensemble on bassoon and contrabassoon. She also played tenor saxophone in the SMU Mustang Band and led the Mustang Band as the Drum Major for two years. 


Ms. Dunlap also has experience working with students outside a traditional classroom setting. She has taught private lessons and worked as an instructor and coach with groups such as Bocal Majority and Dallas Winds. Ms. Dunlap looks forward to sharing her love of music with students and the community.
