Saturday, April 27 8:00am to 2:30pm is called "Super Saturday". This event is specifically for all 8th graders at Apollo & Liberty Junior High. Scroll down below for many more details regarding this event.
Friday, May 10 & Saturday, May 11 is KICKOFF CAMP for everyone! Attendance is critical for all 8th graders, as we will be setting the "Varsity Marching Band" roster from attendance/participation in this two-day Kickoff Camp.
School begins Monday, July 22 for band students! We call it SUMMER BAND. Scroll down for a more detailed schedule below!
PHYSICALS:
UIL regulations require that each band student submit a doctor-signed physical form before July 22, 2024 Summer Band Day One. You can walk-in at any PrimaCare or NextCare on Plano Road for a $25 physical. HERE is the physical form. Physicals must be completed each year after May 1. You can turn in physicals as early as May 10, 2024 Kickoff Camp. Email your completed student physicals to Mr. Schayot at jason.schayot@risd.org

For all 8th grade band students at Apollo and Liberty Junior High Schools! Arrive fed with a large jug of iced water and your instrument. RAIN OR SHINE! Wear athletic clothes and tennis shoes. Lunch is provided.
7:45 AM is a great arrival time for Super Saturday, April 27! Students bring their instrument, a large jug of ice water, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. We will feed them pizza for lunch. Tubas just bring a mouthpiece, rather than the entire instrument. Super Saturday is a “rain or shine” event! We have indoor facilities we can utilize for marching band in the event of rain : )
Parents, we have a student “show-off” performance for you at 1:30 PM this Saturday. Please arrive by 1:30 PM, and we will give a very short performance for you! At the parent performance, we will be selling Berkner Band spirit wear for you to get your first band supporter shirt! Also, we will be selling $10 tickets to the May 11th Band Kickoff Camp Spaghetti Dinner. We are hopeful that you will bring your entire family to eat with us in the BHS Cafeteria as one big Mighty Ram Band Family! Each plate is $10, tickets can be purchased at the parent performance on Super Saturday!

Students pay $20 kickoff camp fee (covers all meals) in Presto before camp begins
Bring filled water jug, instrument, pencil
Bring a snack dinner… no dinner served on Friday
Students bring their instrument, a large jug of ice water, sunglasses, hat and sunscreen. Long hair can be up, or in a ponytail so that your hair doesn’t get in your face as we workout!
Since we are moving around outdoors, students will wear tennis shoes, shorts, and an athletic t-shirt

$10 per plate (students do not need tickets… dinner included in Kickoff Camp fee)
Our spaghetti dinner is a great way for all of our Berkner Mighty Ram Band Families to eat together before the Kickoff Camp Concert that same evening at 6pm. We will dine together, and then all move over to the gym for the concert!
There is no limit to the number of people attending the dinner, please sell as many tickets as you can to our Berkner Band supporters!

Have dinner at 5PM in the BHS Cafeteria, and then join us in the BHS Gym at 6PM for a short concert including a sneak peek at the 2024 marching band production!
ALL students in the Berkner Band 2024-2025 perform at the football games! The VARSITY Marching Band is a smaller group of students who perform at marching contests. Your "audition" for Varsity Marching Band is attending "Kickoff Camp" on Friday, May 10 and Saturday, May 11. We finalize the auditions May 28-May 31 at "May Marching Camp". Placements into marching positions are made July 22 to Aug.10 at Summer Band.... so be sure to get all the following dates into your calendar!
