In brief... We follow the Edexcel specification. Paper 1, Germany and West Germany, 1918-1989 and Paper 2, The Rise and Fall of Fascism in Italy, c1911-1946 are your first year papers. In Paper 1 you will study 4 key themes: Political change; Opposition, control and consent; Economic Policies and change and finally Aspects of Life. You will then address a historical controversy as to whether or not Hitler was to blame for the start of the Second World War. In Paper 2 you will address 4 key topics: The Liberal State, The Rise of Mussolini, The Fascist State and finally Challenges to and the fall of Fascism. Paper 3, Britain; losing and gaining an Empire, is taught in the second year. You will study 5 depth topics: Loss of the American Colonies, Australia, Canada, India and the Nile Valley. You will then look at 2 breadth topics: Trade and the Navy. There is also a coursework option, which returns to the themes found in Paper 1. Papers 1 and 3 are worth 30% of your final mark. Paper 2 and your coursework are worth 20% each.
What kind of things will I be learning in all of the papers? (Try some of the tasks if you want, but feel no obligation!)
