Seniors 5/7

Grade 12

Topic: Obtaining advice from them for underclassmen

Objective: Students will share words of advice to be shared with underclassmen.

Materials:

  • Advice Cards - you can use paper, cardstock or other cards to do this (can be found under mailboxes)

Procedures:

    1. Students will write a note or two of advice to students in 9th grade. They may write to a specific student, or to a 9th grader, in general.
    2. Show examples (below), if needed.
    3. Pass out cards. Students can write more than one. Please have students sign them. This makes them more personal.
    4. Collect cards. Read them to ensure appropriateness after Connections is over.
    5. Turn completed cards into counselor's mailbox to distribute.

Sample Advice Notes

    • Go to school! I missed a lot my 9th & 10th grade year and it set me back with my credits.
    • Take college classes! I am graduating with 12 college credits for free! That’s a whole semester.
    • Go out for activities! It’s how you get to know more people and it makes school more fun.
    • Don’t choose classes just because your friends are in them. Take classes you have interest in.
    • If you fail a class, make sure to make it up right away so you can stay on track for graduation.
    • Try Mock Trial! It’s so fun and you learn a lot.
