In support of Sustainable Development Goal 5: Gender Equality, Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) continues to champion women’s empowerment, health, and creative expression.
Through initiatives like Women’s Wellness Check: Breast and Reproductive Health Awareness and Screening, MSU-IIT promotes proactive healthcare and well-being among women. Meanwhile, Kolorkabildo 5: Art for Relief and Kuri-kuri Training among Female Inmates in Iligan City Jail and Children in Conflict with the Law uses art and skills training as tools for healing, empowerment, and rehabilitation.
MSU-IIT remains committed to creating inclusive spaces where women and girls can thrive, lead, and inspire change—toward a more just and equitable society.
Policy addressing women's applications, acceptance, entry and application
BOR Resolution No. 359, Series of 2023 (EDI Policy) Article VIII: Student Recruitment and Admission
Section 1: MSU-IIT prohibits discrimination in the admission process based on race, color, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, disability, socioeconomic status, or any other protected characteristic as defined by pertinent laws and regulations.
Section 3: The University commits to actively recruiting and welcoming applicants from underrepresented groups, including but not limited to low-income students, minorities, first-generation college students, students with disabilities and special needs, children of solo parents, solo parents, children raised by LGBTQ+, and children whose parents are deprived of liberty. MSU-IIT shall strive to remove barriers that could prevent their inclusion.
Women's application in underrepresented subjects
The Republic Act 9710 or Magna Carta of Women requires all government offices, including government-owned corporations and local government units, to incorporate gender mainstreaming as a key strategy for implementing the law and achieving its goals. Additionally, it mandates (a) the integration of gender and development into planning, budgeting, monitoring, and evaluation processes, (b) the establishment or enhancement of gender and development focal points, and (c) the collection and maintenance of gender statistics and sex-disaggregated databases to support effective planning, programming, and policy development.
The MSU - Iligan Institute of Technology observes and implements Republic Act 9710 or the Magna Carta of Women. This observation and implementation is apparent in the attached issuance, re reconstitution of the GAD Focal Point System to facilitate the implementation of the gender mainstreaming efforts in adherence to Republic Act 9710 and other Philippine Commission on Women issuances.

As a State University, the Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology (MSU-IIT) diligently adheres to and upholds the laws, regulations, and policies set forth by the Philippine Government. This commitment ensures that the university operates within the legal framework established by authorities, fostering an environment of compliance, integrity, and accountability in all its academic and administrative functions
Under Republic Act No. 8187: Paternity Leave Act of 1996, the Philippine government grants paternity leave of seven (7) days with full pay to all married employees in the private and public sectors for the first four (4) deliveries of the legitimate spouse with whom he is cohabiting and for other purposes.
