Google Classroom Updates
Google Classroom (GC) is a streamlined online learning management system for users of G-Suite content. GC integrates with all of the G-Suite tools in order to create an interactive and engaging learning experience. GC works on any browser and is available on Android and iOS devices as an App. There are also third party apps such as Ed Puzzle which can link to a GC to make ease of access and interactivity for students.
Using the Stream Tab or Classwork Tab, educators can add announcements, distribute assignments, grade and send feedback in one location.
Educators can add already created content from their Google Drive or create resources "On The Fly."
Announcements - Educators can add announcements in the STREAM tab of a GC. These are informational and not usually interactive. More Information
Topic - Educators can organize the GC using Topics. Topics allow for a teacher to create a unit or module and then add interactive and engaging assignments for students within a Topic. More Information
Assignment - Educators can add assignments for students to submit within the GC. Assignments can use any of the G-Suite tools such as Docs, Slides, Drawing, etc. The assignments can be grade or not, due dates can be added, and they can be differentiated. More Information
Quiz Assignment - Educators can create a quiz within the course. When selecting this feature, an automatic form is embedded in the assignment and quiz features are embedded such as grade importing. More Information
Question - Educators can create a discussion question within the course. This allows for deeper thinking and equity of voice. More Information
Material - Educators can share material for students to view and to tie to curriculum. More Information
Reuse Post - Educators can reuse content added to other courses. This feature will create new copies of any Google tools added to the original post. All reused post are editable. More Information
Google Meet - Educators can create a link specific to their classroom using Google Meet. More Information & Updates

When you turn on originality reports, you and your students can check work for authenticity. Originality reports use Google Search to compare a student’s work against billions of webpages and millions of books. Originality reports link to the detected webpages and flag uncited text. The reports can:
Help students identify unintentional plagiarism and uncited content before submitting assignments.
Help teachers see where students used source material and where citations are present or missing.
Teacher can use Originality Reports for 3 assignments per semester
Report checks against all pages available to Google Search and Google Books
What are Flagged Passages?
Are similar to text found on a webpage.
Aren’t cited or quoted by the student.
Does not verify correct MLA/APA citations
To view a report, open the assignment, select student, if there are any flagged text, click on # flagged passages
Note: Originality reports are currently available only:
For Google Accounts set to English.
For work completed in Google Docs.
