During registration, all students complete a Home Language Survey. Students that indicate any language other than English during their home language survey will be screened using ACCESS/WIDA. Students are placed in support classes based on WIDA results.
Requirements: Students will be placed based on their current English Learning Proficiency level 1-6.
The focus of the Multilingual Learner Program (previously ESOL) classes is to provide Multilingual Learners with a language focused environment to develop the academic language necessary to demonstrate complex thinking and learning across the disciplines. Students learn to recognize and use language explicitly to the task in the four domains of reading, writing, speaking and listening through engaging interactions with teachers and peers. These courses focus on helping students develop the academic language proficiency needed to be able to learn content knowledge, skills, and processes and use language to communicate proficiently in mainstream courses. Students in MLP 1 (Fall) & MLP 5 (Spring) are typically new to the United States and speak little, if any, English. Their levels typically range from 1.0 - 1.7.

These courses focus on helping students develop the academic language proficiency needed to be able to learn content knowledge, skills, and processes and use language to communicate proficiently in mainstream courses. Students take MLP 3 in the Fall semester and MLP 7 in the Spring semester. Many students at this level take only take one semester of MLP. In the opposite semester, they receive ML services through a co-taught model. Their levels range from 3.0 - 3.9.
