Wes Upton

I am the counselor for the alpha D-K in grades 10-12.  I am so thankful and excited to have the opportunity to work with you at Ryan High School.  My goal is to help ensure that all students have the opportunity to live to their fullest potential academically, socially, and have the bridge they may need to succeed in their lives after high school.

Growing up in the thriving metropolis of Bandera, TX, I graduated with 80 people in my class!  I then went to Texas Tech University where I earned my Bachelors of Arts in Psychology.  I started my teaching career as a Science teacher at McMath MS and then moved to Guyer High School to teach Biology. 

I have been a counselor for the last 15 yea after earning my counseling degree from Texas Woman’s University.  Since that time I have also become a Licensed Professional Counselor with a small private therapy practice.

I am married to my lovely wife who works for the City of Denton.  We are all in on this community!  We have one son who is in college at Rice University.  We all love anything outdoors including hiking and fishing.  I love to play golf and I recently discovered pickleball too!

I hope to be helpful to each of you through our years together and look forward to building strong relationships with you all.
