Our orchestra has a subscription to the Noteflight composition software. Noteflight allows you to compose music with professional results right in your internet browser without the need for expensive music notation software. I hope that you will enjoy the chance to compose, print and share your own musical ideas.

Some Noteflight Tips:
1. To begin an assignment that was shared to your group by Ms. Harvey, click "Community" then the name of the group this was shared to.
2. To begin a brand new piece, click “new score”
3. When you create your first score, you can compose a piece for an entire orchestra or just one instrument. If you would like to compose for multiple instruments you can click “string quartet” or “string orchestra.”
4. If you don't see the combination of instruments you're looking for, click the closest option you can find then use the Parts menu to add or subtract parts after the score opens.
5. If you would like to compose for just one instrument click on “treble clef” or “bass clef.” Viola players—click “treble clef” then as soon as the document opens you will need to change your clef to alto clef.
6. If you open a generic treble or bass clef score, the playback sound will most likely be a piano. You can change the instrument that your part sounds like by using the Parts menu.
7. Please save your work often using the cloud icon at the top. Noteflight doesn't auto-save as you work.
8. Sharing - When you are done with a piece, if you want your friends in orchestra to be able to see it, click “Score Details” and then "Share." Share your piece with just your group, or “all site members,” which gives every member of our school's orchestra program the ability to view your piece. This option does not make your score visible to all Noteflight users worldwide, it is restricted to our group (Crownover Orchestra members). You can also choose if you want others to only be able to only view your piece, or also to be able to make comments on it.
9. If you would like to view the shared pieces of other students, they will show up under the Scores section of the home page or your group's page.
10. As you compose, visit the USER GUIDE and help menu embedded in the Noteflight editing screen along the way.
11. Have fun creating your own music!
