Other than practice time, nothing helps a student improve at instrumental music faster than one-on-one instruction from a qualified teacher. Denton ISD offers an on-campus private lesson program where private Lessons are available with qualified, approved teachers during and after school. Lessons are $20 each. Students take one lesson per week ($80 per month).

Lessons will be taken during the student’s orchestra class period for half of one period (22 minutes), once per week. Some students may be asked to take lessons after school. When possible, returning students will be assigned to their previous instructor.
Our more advanced students would benefit from longer lesson times outside of the school day when possible. If you are interested in taking longer lessons (45 min- 1 hour), ask Ms. Harvey for recommendations of off-campus instructors, or instructors that can facilitate longer lessons on campus after school. Cost would vary by instructor and length of lessons.
Only instructors that have been background checked and approved through a district approval process are allowed to teach lessons on our campus. If you have an existing private teacher that would like to do lessons with you on campus, please have them get in touch with Ms. Harvey to learn how to get added to the approved list.
Students who do not have a current private teacher may contact teachers on the list below to set up lessons. Outside of school, parents will work directly with the private teacher to set up lesson times, location, and payment schedules. Some of the teachers below may be able to teach the student on campus as a part of our in-school private lesson program but that availability would be up to the teacher's schedule. If you study with a teacher not currently in our in-school lesson program that would like the option of teaching you at school, they can contact Ms. Harvey for information on how to get added to the approved list to become eligible to teach on our campus.
All of the teachers on the list below have been used by a DISD campus as an approved private lesson teacher at some point. Ms. Harvey assumes no liability for recommendations of off-campus instructors. Recommendations are suggestions based on personal experience, teacher recommendations or student/parent recommendations. Parents are always welcome to take lessons with the instructor of their choice.
