This website will help you with the first step, choosing your classes. Visit your Middle School Campus Course Selection Website to learn more about your future.
Students are expected to enter their courses into HAC (Home Access Center) for the 2023-24 middle school year. Home Access Center (HAC) is located in the student SSO app. Students must use their own username and password to register.
On February 22nd, Calhoun Counselors will be here at NRE to give 5th graders a presentation on middle school course selection and will help students with any course selection questions and starting the process to enter their courses in HAC.
On the 23rd, there will be a makeup day for students who were absent the prior day.
*Please be aware that course selection must be completed by the student in the Students Home Access Center. This cannot be completed in the Parents Home Access Center.*
Step 1: Log into Home Access Center (HAC)
❏ Log into your Chromebook (or device at home)
❏ Log into your SSO (student portal)
❏ Log into HAC (Home Access Center) with your student log in. Parent HAC login will not work.
Step 2: Navigate to the “Requests” page
❏ Once logged into HAC, select the “Classes” icon (at the top)
❏ Select the “Requests” tab (below the home icon)
Step 3: Begin Selecting Course Requests by Subject area
***For Rising 6th Graders, the Middle School Counselors will be loading all core courses except for Math. Students do not need to request English, Science or Social Studies.
Soon your child will be registering for classes to be taken next school year. One of the options will be for you and your child to select either 6th grade math or 6th grade Honors math. The Math 6 Honors course is an accelerated curriculum that addresses all of the 6th grade standards plus approximately half of the 7th grade math standards as well. The 6th grade Honors math course is designed to be a preparation for taking 7th grade Honors and then Middle School Honors Algebra I during the 8th grade year.
At Calhoun, P.E. is requiring uniforms and there will be a "cost."
Students attending Calhoun may choose to get a locker from their social studies teacher.
Except for foreign language and fine arts, all main courses are pre-loaded into the Home Access Center (HAC).
In March, parents will receive an email about their child's course selections. Any changes that wish to be made; parents will have to communicate those changes with the middle school counselors.
TRANSFERS: If students are transferring to another campus, it is highly recommended that hard copies of course cards be submitted to the respective campus. Mr. Cepeda will be more than happy to look over the zoned list and contact those parents with the respective middle school information.
