Absences & Tardies
Submit an absence note within 3 days on the District Website
Extended Absences: If out 5+ consecutive days, a doctor’s note is required.
Lunch
Our lunchtime is 30 minutes long. We will begin welcoming families to join their child for lunch starting in September. This will give us time to establish our lunch routines and ensure everything runs smoothly. Refer to the schedule below to see the time of your child’s lunchtime.
Dismissal Procedures: All students are dismissed at 3:00 pm.
Car Riders [Need Car Tag]: Dismissed through the front door. Please pull your car up to the cones, and have your car tag visible in the window. We will bring your child to the car. For safety reasons, anyone without a car tag will be asked to park and come into the building to get their child. Please expect car rider dismissal to take about 45 minutes the first week of school while our whole community is learning the new system. This is normal, and the time will become faster each day. Our car rider dismissal usually ends by 3:10 once everyone is in the flow of our system. Don't give up on it after the first few days!
Walkers: Pick up at the courtyard at the back of the building between Calhoun and Newton Rayzor
Daycare/Bus: Dismissed at the back of the building to the bus drop-off and pick-up area
If you, or your family, could use support, please email Ms. Carillo at vcarrillo_cis@dentonisd.org for more information.
Please keep in mind that the standard return time for background check results is upwards of 10 days.
This year the district has finally stated we need to go 100% paperless on absence notes. All absences notes need to be submitted through the district absence link portal. If we receive a paper note, we will return it back to the student with a mini QR flyer to give back to parents with the note attached.
Here is the link
Please reach out to if you have any questions about this. I am also available to guide parents if they help using this online system.

Donations play a crucial role in the success and effectiveness of the PTA. They help us provide essential classroom supplies and educational materials ensuring students have the tools they need to succeed. Contributions enable us to appreciate and support our teachers and staff through appreciation events. They are used to organize programs that enhance the overall learning experience. And donations support our efforts to advocate for students' needs. Every donation, big or small, contributes to creating a thriving educational environment where students can excel and teachers feel valued!
The CDC recommends everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine every season. Washing hands often and getting a flu vaccine are 2 simple actions that everyone, especially people at higher risk of developing serious flu complications, can take to help reduce the spread of flu. October is a good time to get a flu vaccine. Use the Vaccine Finder to find out where to get vaccinated near you. Here’s to building our community immunity!
