This question could be shared at the end of announcements for classes to discuss.
What are my values, and how do media and tech impact them?
Monday Script: Self Awareness
Every October we celebrate National Digital Citizenship week! Digital citizenship is using technology responsibly and appropriately. Good digital citizens know what is right and wrong and make good choices when using technology. Each day, this week, we'll be thinking about ways we can become better Digital Citizens.
Have you ever seen something in a text or on social media that was probably regretted later? It may have been shared by someone you’ve never met, a friend, or even you. Sometimes people don’t think about who is going to see the post or feel pressure to make themselves seem cool online. They might share during an emotional time and wish they hadn’t later. Maybe someone tagged you in a post about something you didn't want shared.
Take a moment to think about how it feels when we overshare. (PAUSE) Now let’s think of ways to prevent it. Before you post, think about when and why you're posting BEFORE you share. If you’re upset, wait until later to post.
You have the power to make a positive impact on the world and yourself by thinking before you share. At Comal ISD, we value Digital Citizenship!
