Tuesday Script: Self-Management in Digital Life
Today’s digital citizenship idea is about finding balance.
When you get home at night what’s the first thing you do? For many students, the answer involves technology. In fact, for many students the majority of time they are outside of school is spent using technology. You may be playing games online, scrolling through TikTok on a phone, or watching tv. These are all passive uses of technology.
Passive technology use is absorbing content without contributing to it. Too much passive screen time may be linked to having a negative well-being.
Active screen time is linked to more positive effects. These are things like creating positive content or appropriately expressing your thoughts and ideas online. It’s important to pay attention to how you are engaging with technology.
You have the power to make a positive impact on the world and yourself by finding a healthy balance in your digital life. Digital balance is an important part of Digital Citizenship.
