First Year Students
INTERACTION WITH FACULTY AND STAFF
Competently interact with faculty and staff
We're focusing on this outcome at this point in the year for first year students because many of them may have little to no experience interacting with teachers in person in a professional setting. Encouraging them to think about appropriate ways to interact with faculty and staff will set them up for success while they're at Clemson.
BEFORE YOU START:
REflection Questions
What are benefits to interacting with faculty and staff?
How can we encourage students to utilize faculty and staff in both academic and professional experiences?
Community Plans
What expectations do you have for residents in your community in relation to this outcome?
How will you communicate those expectations?
Ideas
Spotlight Campaign: Highlight faculty/staff members from around Clemson's campus/community with a small bio and pieces of advice
RA Competencies
Peer Educator
RAs serve as peer educators by providing opportunities for residents to reflect on their choice of major, social identities, career aspirations, etc. as they pursue their degree. RAs play a part in facilitating a culture of lifelong learning.
You can develop in this area by reflecting on how you interact with faculty and staff yourself! You can also learn more about how you can be a mentor for your residents through the resources linked on this page.
