Continuing Students
Mentorship
Competently interact with faculty and staff
We're focusing on this outcome at this point in the year for continuing students because some are in the process of preparing for graduation, while others may beginning to look into co-op or internship opportunities. Encouraging them to think about seeking out mentors to assist them in these processes will help them significantly in the long run.
BEFORE YOU START:
REflection Questions
Do you have any mentors in your life? If so, how have they supported you and how did you find them?
What does mentorship look like to you? What are the qualities that you look for in mentors?
How will mentorships benefit your future?
Community Plans
What expectations do you have for residents in your community in relation to this outcome?
How will you communicate those expectations?
Ideas
Spotlight Campaign: Highlight mentors from around Clemson's campus/community with a small bio and pieces of advice
Spotlight/Social Media Campaign: Ask RAs, faculty members, staff, etc. what mentorship looks like for them and include their responses in your newsletter or on your community's social media!
RA Competencies
Peer Educator
RAs serve as peer educators by providing opportunities for residents to reflect on their choice of major, social identities, career aspirations, etc. as they pursue their degree. RAs play a part in facilitating a culture of lifelong learning.
You can develop in this area by taking advantage of some of these mentorship opportunities yourself! You can also learn more about how you can be a mentor for your residents through the resources linked on this page.
