Clear and Effective Communication
Students can demonstrate organized and purposeful communication.
Students can gather information from actively speaking, listening, and participating in class.
Contemporary Lit and Film students discuss The Perks of Being a Wallflowers in a Harkness style.
Students in Math 4 working on "Dear Data" Projects where they collect data for a week and find a creative way to display it.
Students play the DNA Replication game in Heredity and Genetics class.
Students analyze Shakespeare in Comparing Literature and Film.
Self Direction
Students have self-awareness, initiative, flexibility, and resilience in their learning.
Students have individual responsibility for their learning.
Students use technology to support and enhance their learning.
Geometry & Stats students work on a Compund Probablity Maze.
Myleigh and Ellie were recognized by NCTC for their excellence in the Cosmetology program. Both students were inducted into the National Technical Honor Society!
French class had a cake bake off to practice comparatives. Students had to decide which cake was "le meilleur" (the best), which cake had "le meilleur goût" (the best flavor) and "la meilleure présentation" (the best presentation).
Students build sentences with vocab words from their class novel in ELA.
Creative and Practical Problem Solving
Students observe and evaluate situations in order to solve problems.
Students persist in solving challenging problems and learn from failure.
The Foundations in Art class uses the hallway to learn about and practice perspective drawing.
Heredity & genetics students investigate organic compounds including identigying simple and complex carbs, proteins, and lipids.
Students in US History class place events leading up to the Vietnam War on a timeline.
Freshman Story Wimble is preparing part of the school garden for community gardeners. This is part of a project designed to address the UN Global goal of eliminating hunger.
Informed and Integrative Thinking
Students apply knowledge from multiple sources to make sense of their learning.
Students apply prior knowledge to the current task.
In US History class, students indicate whether actions taken during the 1960s could be defined as reform or revolution.

Students in ELA 2 complete a KWL chart detailing what they have learned about the Apartheid.
Botany students present their research about the schools current native wildflower garden and plans to grow the space.
