Why choose this subject?

This qualification is for learners aged 14-16 who wish to develop applied knowledge and practical skills in child development. It is designed with both practical and theoretical elements, which will prepare students for further qualifications in child care, health and social care, psychology, sociology and biology.

What will the course cover?

All students will study three mandatory topics as follows:

•   Health and well-being for child development

•  Create a safe environment and understand the nutritional needs of children from birth to five years.

•   Understand the development of a child from one to five years.

What can this course lead on to?

This course can prepare students for further qualifications in child care, health and social care, psychology, sociology and biology.
