What can I choose?
You will need to select four preferences from the list of subjects available. You will also need to select two reserve subjects.
Options Subjects
Use the links below to view information about each subject. For most subjects you will find a video interview with the subject leader, as well as examples of the sort of work you will be doing. You can also use the drop down menu at the top of the page to find your way around.
What happens next?
We will try to build a timetable around every student’s choices. If we cannot make all your choices fit, or if a course does not recruit enough numbers to run, Mrs Downes will discuss your options with you and you may need to choose an alternative. It is for this reason that we ask you to identify reserve subjects.
How will I decide?
As well as reading about each of the courses, you may find it useful to work through the following questions in preparation for your meeting:
What are you interested in? - Other cultures and languages, writing projects, helping people, being outdoors or designing things.
What types of activity do you enjoy most? - Working things out and thinking them through, practical activities or artistic options like painting, drawing or performing.
Do you have a clear idea about future career aspirations? – Does this career require certain qualifications?
Do you aim to go to university? - Take a look at the UCAS website and at the entry requirements for courses in which you have an interest. Some universities may, for example, require a Modern Foreign Language at GCSE or above and study of at least one more traditional humanities subject may well provide useful breadth.
