Hello Scott Parents,
I am privileged to be caring for your kids here at school again this year !
My direct phone number is (469) 633-4008. Please take a moment right now to add my direct phone number to your mobile phone contact lists. That way if I ever need to contact you because your child is ill or injured, my phone number won’t show as unknown or be unfamiliar to you. If you see my number, and can't pick up check your voicemail and call me back as soon as you are able . I will always leave a voicemail if you are identified by name on your message and don’t pick up. If it is an emergency I will reach out to your next provided contact.
Unfortunately , Visitors are not allowed to the clinic without an appointment due to the safety, privacy and confidentiality of the other students as well as to prevent the spread of illness and with infection control. You may drop off supplies for the clinic at the front office. If you need to visit please see our front office staff first.
Phone calls will be answered and returned if time permits during the day but may take up to a 24 hours business day.
You will not receive a phone call every time your child visits the clinic. The Registered Nurse will use her medical judgement per the FISD policy. Notification may be done via phone call/voicemail, email or just a note - these notes may be in the form of a clinic pass just letting you know of your child's complaint or teacher's concerns and the action taken by the teacher /or the nurse. Please be sure to check your child's backpack/folder often. If the teacher brought it to your attention your child may not have seen the nurse that day. Teachers are expanding their in class roles to care for our students minor needs . They have been given instruction per Covid 19 protocols.
If you feel you must have contact from the nurse with each clinic visit please let me know in writing . Please send me an email . I will note it in our eSchool system to make everyone aware .
FISD requires you to pick up your child within 30 minutes and not greater than an hour after you have been contacted for pick up. Please be sure all contact information is current with our Data Clerk Mrs. Crociata 469 633-4007. She can update those changes for you.
School times will change slightly this year. School starts at 7:45 a.m. and school will end at 3:05 p.m. I am on duty during school hours. A school nurse is present during school hours & provides on-campus health screenings, assessment & education. For illness & injuries occurring during the school day, basic first-aid or emergency care is provided according to TX State Board of Nursing Standards & Practices. The nurse may suggest further medical follow up in certain circumstances, further care & follow up is the responsibility of the parents. Please, never send a sick or injured child to school to for the nurse to make an attendance decision; when in doubt - always call & follow the advice of their doctor. Nurses cannot diagnose your child .
Remember the 4W's Wash your hands, Wear a mask, Watch your distance and time spent talking with someone and finally When sick - stay home please !
I am always happy to help so please reach out ,
Have your child eat breakfast before school every day, even if just "go-gurt," fruit, cereal, oatmeal or toast paired with milk. Pack a water bottle! Wear closed toed shoes for the most comfort and safety, or throw in an extra pair of shoes for PE / recess! Pack a change of clothes in your child's backpack--even for the older kids. Teach them how to wash/sanitize hands, how to properly cover a cough/sneeze.
Don’t make pick up deals with your child before they leave for school. Once you say you will pick them up early, it makes our job a whole lot harder! Most times when a deal has been at home, the child will tell us as soon as they arrive in the building or sometimes right at 10 am if you told them to "try at least until 10", even if they are feeling better.
If you are ever unsure if your child should be at school...review the FISD Guidelines and/or Contact & Follow the advice of your Medical Provider. Please DO NOT send your child to school for the School Nurse to decide if they should be here as this action potentially exposes others. Remember, it takes all of us working together to keep our community healthy.
Please be sure to update the Nurse and Teacher with any health concerns that may arise during the school year.
For a great start to each school day, fill their minds and hearts every morning with words of love and encouragement!
