College Spanish

Course Overview:

This course continues enhancing reading, writing, listening, and communication or speaking skills and learning more about cultural and historical topics. There is continued study of vocabulary and grammar utilizing short stories, songs, and films for comprehension and interpretation. This class is taught according to standards held at Virginia Western Community College and is instructed in Spanish with the expectation that students communicate in Spanish.  


College Spanish is offered in the spring semester for students who have completed Spanish levels 1-3 and takes the place of Spanish 4 & 5. This class fulfills the Spanish requirements for Virginia Western Community College and is a preparation for students seeking to continue their studies in Spanish in college.  


Students finished with level 2 or those who are currently taking level 2 and signed up for level 3 in the fall may still apply for the class pending successful completion of level 3. Students must have completed all previous Spanish classes with a minimum B average, and have recommendations by their most recent Spanish teacher to continue their studies.  

Students interested in this course should see the attached application for more information.  Please download the application and fill out the required information.  See your guidance counselor, and return it to rebekah.garrett@frco.k12.va.us electronically or on paper by March 29, 2024.  Students may drop by room 157B as well to see the instructor.  Please make sure all components of the application are turned in at the same time by the March 29th deadline.
