Upcoming art event & what the future holds for the Franklin Arts Academy

On Sunday, March 2nd from 5-7 PM, the Franklin Arts Academy will be running an art show hosted at Hunakai Studio School of Fine Arts in Foxborough. The show will feature stunning 2D and 3D visual art created by FAA students and is open to anyone at no cost! It will be a fun night for artists and supporters to come together as a community to support both the program and the studio, as well as enjoying beautiful works of art. Free refreshments will be provided to attendees, so make sure you stop by!
The show will be a way for the program to spread support for artists in the community. The Franklin Arts Academy has had a rough year following the budget cuts due to the failed tax override back in June, which resulted in the program being cut for the class of 2027 and the advisor, Mr. Grossman, being laid off. At the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year, FAA English teacher Ms. Hoffenberg stepped up as the next advisor to help the 6 Senior and Junior student representatives (Ash Montani, Maliha Mahjabin, Eden Donovan, Taylor Stacy, Riley MacDonald, and Liam Nolan-Hayun). With the help of the parent boosters, the program has raised a lot of money through fundraisers to support the program with activities and scholarship opportunities.
Unfortunately, despite the strong efforts the school has decided to not run an FAA English 11 class next school year, discontinuing the program for future grades. This will be detrimental to students who thrive in smaller communities and art based learning. With only one class left next school year it will be difficult to stop the program from disappearing, but we are working hard to make it possible! Attending the show will be a great way to show your support for the program and the artists involved, so we hope to see you there!
