We have had a fantastic first half term in Year 3.
We have a wonderful, big classroom, which we all absolutely love.
We have already learnt so much and feel very grown up now we are in Key Stage 2.
Mrs Fletcher says we have had a magnificent start to Year 3
ART
We have been loving our Art lessons. We have thought about shading, different techniques we can achieve with a pencil. We investigated the different tones and shade and what happens when you add white and grey to a colour. We also looked at fossils link to our Science work on Rocks & Soils and had a go at drawing ammonites. Finally we created some mythical creature using our oil and chalk pastels.

SPORT
We have taken part in a school cross country tournament and a school handball tournament.
We earnt points for our houses. It was so much fun.
Four children also represented Foxhill in Cross Country against other schools. You can see them sporting our new Foxhill Team Kit tops.
We have also taken part in a skipping workshop, which was great fun and a fabulous skill to have.
ENGLISH
In English we have been reading 'The Iron Man' by Ted Hughes. It's a great book. To help us with our character descriptions we designed our own Iron Man. We used these as inspiration for our writing.

FOREST SCHOOL
Forest School has been absolutely amazing.
We have learnt about nature, used nature to make art, worked as a team, built resilience, learnt new skills, had so much fun, endured the wet, windy weather and LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT.
Lizzie from Bee Outdoors brought so many activities and ideas for use to have a go at.

HERD FARM TRIP FOR A STONE AGE DAY!
We became Stone Age people on our visit to Herd Farm.
Year Three became reindeer hunters throwing spears, nomads makning and moving our shelters around, farmers making fences and cave people painting cave painting from crushed berries and charcoal.
Despite the chilly weather we loved it. We saw where Neolithic Stone Age people would have sheltered in their round houses and some of the tools that they used.
Life for Stone Age people was HARSH!

MUSIC
As well as the Cornet, we have been learning how to play the glockenspiel in our Music lessons. It was tricky at first, but now we can all play together really well.
We cannot wait to show you all the work we complete in Autumn 2.
Thanks for all your support with reading, homework, coming to assemblies, and so much more.
