For meal purchases, please make sure your child has adequate funds available in MyPaymentsPlus for the last month of school. They can also bring in cash or a check to cover their meal purchase. Starting Monday, May 6 through the end of the school year, students without adequate funds will receive a courtesy snack.

As we begin to reach the end of the unit and the end of the year, we have some exciting things planned for students!
Students are finishing up their novel study for The Outsiders. We will have two activities for students to celebrate! We will view the movie for a compare and contrast with the novel as well as hosting a spirit week!
Parents please be on the lookout for movie permission slips from your students.

This week we started our last unit of the year: Vietnam! This is a short unit focusing mainly on the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War.

7th Grade Enrichment will be covering the following in class:
We will conclude our A Monster Calls unit and summative project.
We will begin our last podcast of the year called Iowa Chapman and the Last Dog.
Students will analyze various story elements, characters and settings throught this unit.
Healthcare Science:
6th grade will be learning about Therapeutic Diets.
7th Grade will be exploring HIPAA.
8th Grade is completing a Shark Tank career project and working on Medical Terminology.

Last Day with Instruments in band class, all school-owned instruments must be turned in, May 17. Students continuing in band at SFMS will be able to checkout an instrument for the summer.
It is hard to believe the year is almost over. We are in the home stretch now! It is going to be a busy one. You may see some symptoms of “Spring Fever” starting to develop. This also can be a stressful time with milestones and final exams on the horizon. Although the prospect of summer can be exciting, it also means that change is coming which can be challenging for some. I have provided a couple of articles below that have some great suggestions in helping to make a smooth transition into summer break.
Preparing for the End of School

Nurse Notes
End of School Year Medication Pick up – Please come pick up your child’s unused medication from the clinic between the hours of 8:30am and 4:15pm. Medication pick-up will begin Monday, May 6th, and continue through the last day of school. If medication is not picked up by 2pm on Thursday, May 23rd, it will be considered abandoned. Abandoned medication will be destroyed in accordance with local, state, and federal laws. We do NOT keep any meds in the clinic over the summer.
