Well, it's hard to believe that we are embarking on our last unit of the school year! Admittedly, this is one of our favorites.
Students are already diving into their reading of The Outsiders and analyzing the text for discussion questions, summarizing, vocabulary skills, visualizing, symbolism, and inferencing. They share their findings in literature circle discussions and are responsible for meeting a deadline they have set within their teams so as to keep track of their reading and work.
These student-led discussions are always a great life skill! Students will rewrite a scene from the book from a different point of view and perspective.
As a wrap up to our unit, students will view the movie the last week of school, so parents please be on the look out for the movie permission slips.
Joke of the week:
Knock knock!
Who's there?
Hike.
Hike who? (Haiku)

Happy Spring! As we are in our last quarter of the year, our students have a lot of things on their plate. Some of these things may cause some stress in our students. Milestones and finals can seem intimidating. Even though it is important to practice self-care year around, it can travel further down the priority list as things become more hectic. Luckily, spring break is right around the corner. This is an opportune time to refocus on self-care! Be sure to carve out time to just enjoy yourself! Please see some suggestions below:
