Special Education Documents

Individual Program Plans (IPPs) are legal documents mandated by Alberta Education to support students in their learning. 

• Requires a formal diagnosis to meet Alberta Education coding requirements. 

• Accessed/completed in Clevr.

Learning Support Plans (LSPs) are used for students who have identified learning needs but do not have an assign code. Accommodations and supports are still required to be implemented.

• Legal document (Alberta Education) to support student learning. 

• Does not require a diagnosis (For example, ADHD would fall into this category). 

• For students requiring Tier 2/3 learning support.

• Accessed and completed in Clevr.

Behaviour Support Plans (BSPs) support students whose behaviour is impacting their learning environment. 

• Is often accompanied by an IPP, or used as a stand-alone plan when there is no formal diagnosis. 

• Accessed and completed in Clevr.

Educational and Environmental Impact Statemetns are used for ECDP and Kindergarten students with severe needs. 

• Required for all Code 40 students (41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48)

• Templates are provided by LACs.

The School Functioning Form is used for Grades 1-12 students with severe needs. 

• Applicable for students with Code 42 or 44

• Templates are provided by LACs.

Needs Assessments are completed for Grades 1-12 students with severe needs to understand the functional needs of students in the classroom setting.

• Predictor of level of EA support required

• Templates are provided by LACs.
