In September, 2020, the cohort used the Computer Science is Elementary Building Growth Gauge. The rubric helped us see where we were at the time, and gave us things to work towards. This data was used to improve the implementation of the Computer Science is Elementary program in our school district.
With the help of Great Prairie AEA, we did an Iowa Computer Science Standards School Assessment to see if we were currently meeting the standards. Each standard was considered and then marked with the current status of already meeting, partially meeting, or unmet-needs work. This helped us identify areas that may have been overlooked, and to celebrate what we were already doing.
In 2021, the CS Integration Coach and the Teacher Leadership System Coordinator participated in a SCRIPT workshop at Great Prairie AEA. They learned how to use the CS For All SCRIPT Program to self-assess our computer science implementation district-wide. It really helped us see where our strengths and weaknesses were. We used this information to help us determine our next steps and goals.
