Computer Science Week

Our Computer Science Week activities grew this year to include ALL students, preschool through twelfth grade! The High School participated in the Hour of Code for the first time. It's amazing to see the impact that the Computer Science is Elementary award continues to have on our district! 

We love celebrating Computer Science Week! This year we focused on computational thinking and the engineering design process. The slide show below contains highlights of the week. We added in dress up days this year, and that was a big hit with the students and staff! We participated in a virtual Family Code Night during the week. We had a mini Hour of Code. Some teachers did plugged activities, and some did unplugged activities. We also expanded the celebration this year to include preschool and fourth through eighth grades, in addition to our kindergarten through third grades from the year before.

Due to Covid restrictions in 2020, we couldn't have guests come into the buildings, so we made videos of community members that were shared out through Seesaw to classes, and also shared with our family members.  We focused on Hello Ruby and had activities for each day that connected to the book. Our elementary schools also participated in a Virtual Family Code Night that was put on through code.org.

Kindergarten through third grade participated in an Hour of Code during Computer Science Week. Some used Hour of Code activities from code.org, and some used Kodable.
