Gernot Segelbacher’s biosketch

Gernot is a conservation geneticist focusing on the application of genetic and genomic tools in conservation. In his research he mainly focuses on developing genetic monitoring tools in bird species. In his group eDNA methods are also used to assess freshwater and forest ecosystems. He is Professor of Conservation Genetics at the Chair of Wildlife Ecology and Management at the University of Freiburg. He is also co-Chair of the IUCN Conservation Genetics Specialist Group (CGSG) and member of the technical subgroup of the IUCN Task Force on Synthetic Biology and Biodiversity Conservation.
