After the affirmative speech, the negative speaker is given a chance to ask the affirmative speaker questions to clarify the affirmative’s points and/or to begin to show flaws in the affirmative’s argument. This round is extremely important because it's totally spontaneous. The negative needs to form questions based on the affirmative's case, and the affirmative has to answer the negative's questions "on the fly". The round only lasts three minutes.
